Abstract In 2017, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) implemented Code for Ships Operating in Polar Waters (Polar Code), with mandatory requirements covering Arctic and Antarctic Oceans. this conjunction, Convention on Standards of Training, Certification Watchkeeping (STCW) were amended 2018. New training made applicable dedicated personnel charge a navigational watch ships Ship Certificate (PSC) operating polar waters. association new amending STCW Convention, IMO, Transport Canada (flag state authority) signed Memorandum Understanding to develop deliver four regional capacity-building “train-the-trainer” workshops.
